3. Initial configurations on ESXi 5.1

So you have finished the installation. Let's look at the first window.
From where is this IP address?? Definitely this will be a big question to you. In workstation you can create virtual networks. By default for each network has separate DHCP virtual servers. By default workstation creates two virtual network adapters (vmnet 1 and vmnet 8). Each adapter represents one virtual network. You can create your own virtual network. For this lab I have created a network called vmnet 2(192.168.1.0/24). So now I'm going to assign a static IP for this VM.

After log in to the system select "Configure Management Network" to give a static IP address.

Then select IP configuration. And give a IP address.

So now open your browser and go to https://192.168.1.100. Wait..........!!!!!!! can you go to the server page? Of course you couldn't. You have to change the VMnetwork to your created virtual network( in my case vmnet 2).

Now you can go to ESXi web page. From there you can download vSphere clien and vCenter.
